Austrian GPs Feedback

Unfortunately my previous posts were prophetic.

For some reason I forced myself to watch both Grand Prix in Austria and only the chaos purposely generated by 3 safety cars (2 of which were completely useless) in the first race and randomly by a Saturday rain in the second weekend have prevented us from seeing what I’ve predicted before the season start.

Mercedes has half a minute advantage on the closer opponent, Red Bull Racing, without even pushing; and in this situation, with the Germans having an obvious gap particularly thanks to the engine, FIA has authorized them to use for this season a clearly illegal device, so illegal that it has been banned starting from 2021, giving them time to develop an alternative.
To me that’s the equivalent of a football player committing a red card foul, but been allowed to keep playing and serve the penalty on the following match, being replaced by an equally talented player.

On top of that, all developments on cars and engines are basically frozen up to the end of 2021, before a complete change in technical rules.

Due to this crazy management, Ross Brawn, who was supposed to come and support the Americans in renewing Formula 1, has the bravery to share with the media that there is no expectation for new teams to join before 2026.

This means that what we have seen in this double header in Austria, a total boredom with no possibility to recover and see a genuine fight for the Championships, will last at least 2 seasons.

The values and roots of the sports are constantly killed, race after race, by nonsense politics, unbelievable decisions and inexplicable rules.

One of the greatest examples is the obvious fact that the Racing Point are using Mercedes technology, bought cash, to prevail in a fight against other constructors who have spent time and resources to develop their cars.
I have nothing against the free market of cars and engines (if it’s done like during the 60s, 70s and partially the 80s), but as far as I can see it is banned now.

Who, a part from Mercedes, can be happy about this? And why no one is raising it?
Is being politically correct so important that everyone prefer to loose and look like incompetents instead escalating this terrible situation?

Moreover, are the F1 management and the TVs so arrogant thinking that the we, while watching at home, don’t see and understand these topics?

How many people will keep tuning in to look at these horrible parades of cars, knowing the final results before the start?

I’m pretty sure the numbers will show a lack of interest soon, but unfortunately I’m not as confident that the Formula One steering will be able to bring the right solutions on the table.
