When was the track built?
The circuit has been inaugurated in 1952 and it was 1km long. Starting from 1960, with the first extension, it became a GP circuit, featuring also F1 cars, although not for the title.
With further updates it has been used as venue for world series of motorsport and with the definitive extension, realized by me, it has reached finally F1 standards in terms of safety, length and services.
When was its first Grand Prix?
Almost reaching 70 years of service, it has never hosted a F1 GP.
It will host both F1 World Title and African Continental races.
What’s the circuit like?
The track has always been extremely quick, not very complicated even in his latest 3.3km layout.
Thanks to the final upgrade, a new technical section between turn 3 and 11 has been added, while keeping most of the old fast corners in the second half.
Turn 14 and 16 are slightly modified to allow deeper safety escapes.
Modern stands, boxes and entertainment areas are also part of the new circuit.
Where is it located?
Few kilometers north of Cape Town, near to all main services
(- 33°49’28”, + 18°31’38”)
