When was the track built?
Angola had a rich motorsport heritage and, although Luanda already has its own permanent circuit, the beautiful and large streets of Luanda Bay, just below the fort, will be ready to host a Grand Prix, thanks to a proposal for reviving the Fortaleza street circuits used in the 1960s, designed by me.
When was its first Grand Prix?
This circuit will be ready from 2023 and it will rotate with the other two of the country for a slot in the World and Continental Championships.
What’s the circuit like?
The most particular characteristic about this track is that there is almost no straight.
The section after chicane 14 that leads to turn 1 is anyway unique, with a constant flow of high-speed corners that will reward the bravest drivers and most balanced cars.
It has also the usual stop-and-go trait of a street circuit, but the wide streets of the Angolan capital will offer many overtake chances.
Where is it located?
On the gorgeous city Bay, around the Fortaleza de Sao Miguel with the main straight on Avenida 4 de Fevereiro (-8.808165, 13.223311)
