When was the track built?
A small landlocked country, with a growing economy but also with its contradictions and controversies, Uganda has been welcomed by the new Formula One Organization to join the calendar, supporting the construction of a new permanent circuit, designed by me, well connected to the Centre of its capital Kampala.
It is projected to boost the economy and to open the country to the World as it is built to host all major motorsport categories, starting with F1 from 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
The new track will host the first ever race and Formula One Grand Prix for Uganda, in 2023.
What’s the circuit like?
It is a super-fast circuit, with three long high-speed bits although they are never completely straight.
The second part of the layout is more technical, with a constant flow of medium-to-high-speed corners really enjoyable to drive.
It suits cars with great aerodynamic efficiency and grip, that can manage tyres through the long sweeping corners.
Weather can be unpredictable with temperatures that can vary and heavy rainfalls.
Where is it located?
Less than 15km East of the city centre, close to the Lake Victoria banks (0°19’46.6″N; 32°41’17.0″E)
