Patte d’oie Circuit 1 – Brazzaville

Circuit: Fictitious
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2020 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

The modern city of Brazzaville has been selected by the new Formula One Organization as the best location for a street course in the Republic of the Congo.
The area around the Patte d’oie forest, with its wide streets, important buildings and beautiful parcs offered the opportunity to create two layouts, both designed by me, a very rare circumstance for a street track.
The circuits have a couple of permanent bits, including the pit and paddock facilities near the Palais des Congrès, and make the most of the variety of streets that revolves around or pass through the natural reserve.
It is set to be ready in 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It is the first ever racetrack of Congo and it will be ready in 2023; the two layouts will rotate every year for the Continental Title.

What’s the circuit like?

Layout 1 is shorter, with many high-speed sections and overtaking spots, which makes it a unique street track.
It might appear a simple design, but the changes of road width don’t allow any loss of focus.
The snaky bit near the stadium requires precision and great car balance. The two Esses at T4-5-6, slow and twisty, and at T13-14, bumpy and fast, are the trickiest parts, both critical for lap time and to capture the overtaking opportunity in the following straights.
Challenging set-up to get good car balance while not losing straight speed.

Where is it located?

Around the Forestry reserve and parc Zoologique, passing by the Palais des Congres, the football stadium and very close to the main airport (4°16’05.4″S 15°15’22.2″E)
