When was the track built?
The city of Bamako was one of the last to submit its candidacy for a spot in the new Formula 1.
Thanks to its wide streets and for the space to build permanent paddock and boxes, the quartier of ACI 200 has been chosen and then I have designed the first ever racetrack of the country.
Everything is already in place, while the permanent buildings are due to be completed by 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
This will be the first ever F1 GP held in Mali. The new circuit will be ready to host a Continental series race in 2023.
What’s the circuit like?
Sector 1 and 3 are quite typical street circuit, with mainly 90° turns; but thanks to the wide roads of Mali capital and to the 1.1km long main straight there will plenty of overtake opportunities also in these two zones.
The most particular and unique feature of the circuit in the second part made of two very long and fast right-handers spaced out by another long straight that will be theatre of many duels and will generate an uneven degradation of tyres.
Where is it located?
On the city side north of the river Niger, in the ACI 2000 quartier, close to the Monument of Independence (12°38’02.1″N; 8°01’35.7″W)
