When was the track built?
The small multi-cultural country of Djibouti was one of the last to be inserted in the new Formula 1 calendar starting from 2023.
I have designed the circuit, which is a part of a massive estate project including hotels, direct connections to the airport, a dedicated train station and state-of-the-art facilities, including five stars pit and paddock buildings, in a free area south of the capital.
When was its first Grand Prix?
This will be the first ever F1 GP held in the Republic of Djibouti. The new circuit will be ready to host a Continental series race in 2023.
What’s the circuit like?
It is characterized by many long high-speed corners, with only four breaking zones and one straight, the main one.
It will be very interesting to see F1 cars perform sequences of turns almost without touching the brakes; this track will put under severe pressure, especially the right ones.
Turn 1, 8 and 14 look like the most likely overtake spots.
Where is it located? In a new estate development south of Djibouti City, around 5 km from its airport (11°29’48.5″N; 43°07’47.8″E)
