Plateau Street Circuit – Abidjan

When was the track built?

The Plateau in Abidjan is Ivory Coast’s business center, with very modern, tall buildings.
It is no surprises that its wide, beautiful and contemporary streets have been chosen to host a F1 GP in 2023.
The circuit, designed by me, will feature permanent pit buildings in a land reclaimed from the sea and will require a massive effort from the city to put in place the temporary stands in such a busy area.

When was its first Grand Prix?

This will be the first ever F1 GP held in Ivory Coast. The new circuit will be ready to host a Continental series race in 2023.

What’s the circuit like?

The track is a common city one: from turn 2 to 15 it is mainly composed by 90° curves, which may remind of the Phoenix circuit.
Very interesting the double fast chicane in turn 16 and 17, which bring driver on the 1.1 km main straight, extremely wide, that will offer not only chances for overtakes but also for counter attacks exploiting the tow, after the final corner.

Where is it located?

In one of the most important areas of the city, passing by skyscrapers and Stade Boigny (5°19’45.4″N; 4°01’04.9″W)
