When was the track built?
In 2016 with the advent of Formula E, Hong Kong hosted his first ever motorsport event, with a privately funded 2km racetrack.
When the new F1 organization has been launched, the high revenue generated by hosting a GP made also the arrival of F1 possible.
A small part of the circuit is the same of the Formula E one, but I have designed a full street circuit across many iconic places.
All facilities will be temporary but all necessary settings will be completed by 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
The new circuit will be ready for the new F1 in 2023 and will host the first ever GP in the country.
What’s the circuit like?
Some parts of sector 1 and 2 are characterized by 90° corners, as usual in street circuits.
But thanks to its wide roads, this racetrack has also long straights and high-speed turns surrounded by skyscrapers and flashing lights.
Also an interesting feature are the two tunnels at the end of the two main straights.
Sector 3 will be the most challenging and exciting for drivers, where the smallest of the mistakes will surely mean game over while going 320 km/h between the guardrails.
Where is it located?
On the Central Harbourfront area in Hong Kong, with the finish line close to the City Hall. (22°16’59.9″N; 114°09’49.3″E)
