When was the track built?
Announced in 2007, it has hosted the first GP the following year, becoming the first Formula One race to be run at night.
Using public roads around the Marina Bay area, the circuit utilises powerful lighting systems to replicate daylight conditions.
It features permanent pit building, and over the years it has been changed slightly with safety improvements in the first corner, pit entry and by eliminating the famous triangle chicane.
When was its first Grand Prix?
First race was held in 2008, won by Fernando Alonso on Renault, thanks to his teammate crash that has given him a chance to exploit the safety car for pitting.
What’s the circuit like?
Despite being a street circuits, it is made of very wide roads and features three long straights where overtakes are definitely possible.
It is very bumpy and drivers not always like it, but it has rarely produced boring races, thanks to the likelihood of making mistakes, safety car to be involved and trye strategy.
Where is it located?
The race is held on roads in downtown Singapore, in the Marina Bay area, around 45 minutes from the International Airport. (+ 1°17’27”, +103°51’22”)
