Ordos International Circuit – Ordos

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Opened in 2010 it’s the first track to be designed and developed entirely independently by the Chinese. Taking its inspiration from local culture, the unusual track layout mimics the outline of a horse dashing down from the grasslands, while the main grandstand features a roofline in the shape of a swooping eagle.
It has been used unfortunately only for minor local motorsport events.

When was its first Grand Prix?

One of the seven Chinese circuits that will rotate in both the Continental and World F1 series, it has never hosted a Grand Prix.

What’s the circuit like?

Due to its meaning, the layout is characterized by having no straights apart from the main one.
The sequence of long high-speed corners will be fun and challenging for drivers and the lap time will be around the one minute barrier; also tyres management will be difficult.
Overtakes will be extremely difficult to perform.

Where is it located?

In Inner Mongolia, north east of Ordos city in the Kangbashi district. Its airport is connected to all main Chinese cities. (+ 39°37’23”, +109°52’19”)
