Tejgaon Circuit – Dhaka

Circuit: Fictitious
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2021 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

The new Formula One Organization came at the perfect time for Bangladesh, one of the most populous and fastest growing countries in the World, as in the city of Dhaka the area of the old military airport in Tejgaon District was planned to be redeveloped for years.
This perfect combination of factors allowed the design of a modern permanent circuit, made by me, that exploits the former runway and the areas preciously occupied by hangars.
A museum of military aircrafts will be part of the project as well, set to be completed in 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

The new circuit will be ready for the new F1 in 2023 and will host the first ever GP in the country.

What’s the circuit like?

The length of the old runway has been split into two straights by the first chicane, similar to the first one in Monza.
The circuit then is start-and-stop, with features that may remind of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal, with fast straights followed by hard braking turns or chicanes.
Straight speed will be as important as car balance, while during the race the braking system will be put under extreme pressure.
High temperatures and humidity, unpredictable heavy showers will make this round even more challenging for drivers and engineers.
The new pit building will be a gem.

Where is it located?

In Tejgaon, one of the main commercial quartiers of Dhaka, located in the center and served by the International Airport. (23°46’47.3″N, 90°22’57.7″E)
