When was the track built?
With one of the fastest-growing economies in the world Nepal was added to the calendar by the new F1 organization.
A suitable area just outside Janapkur, very close to the capital’s airport, has been identified for a permanent circuit, designed by me, which is including stands and facilities for more than 100.000 fans and hotel facilities for F1 and team staff.
It will be ready for the 2023 season.
When was its first Grand Prix?
The new circuit will be ready for the new F1 in 2023 and will host the first ever GP in the country.
What’s the circuit like?
Turns 1 and 3 are the best overtaking spots after the main straight, and they immediately give a challenge at the start with the tight chicane.
The central part is twistier, with several key corners: from the slightly banked Turn 5, to the downhill hairpin at T11, adding the triple-apex T16 and the tricky fast chicane T17.
The most difficult corner is the blind downhill braking zone at T7-8, that comes after a hump.
It requires a balanced set-up. Temperatures will be high, and the rainy season can always bring heavy showers.
Where is it located?
South of the city centre and within two kilometers from its airport; it is also close to the border with India. (26°41’56.6″N, 85°55’19.5″E)
