When was the track built?
This world-class facility is about to be completed, thanks to the efforts of the largest project investors Alijan Ibrahimov, one of Kazakhstan’s richest businessmen through his Eurasian Resources Group firm, that was aiming at bringing MotoGP and F1 to its country.
Hermann Tilke’s firm has designed the layout and its surrounding facilities, including an hotel, kart circuit and drag strip.
It should be opened in 2021 and thanks to the new organization will host a F1 GP.
When was its first Grand Prix?
The new circuit will be ready for the new F1 in 2023 and will host the first ever GP in the country.
What’s the circuit like?
The overall layout is similar to the Bahrain circuit, although there are less sharp corners and more fast and flowing ones.
The main straight is shorter than the opposite and there are surely overtake spots available.
Particularly interesting the section between turn 1 and 4 immediately after the finish line, which can offer some interesting side-to-side action especially after the start.
Where is it located?
Near the village of Mezhdurechenskoe in Almaty, Kazakhstan with its International Airport around 60km south east. (43.585082, 76.569302)
