Hanoi Street Circuit – Hanoi

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Vietnam was supposed to host its first F1 GP in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic has stopped the plans, which were delayed further by administrative issues.
With the new organization, circuits will no longer have to pay to host an event, therefore the circuit will finally bring Formula One to the country in 2023, hosting the final race of the Asian title.
Designed by Hermann Tilke it will include some existing roads as well as newly-constructed ones, aiming at creating a hybrid layout, combining typical street courses’ characteristics with the benefits of a permanent venue.

When was its first Grand Prix?

The new circuit will be ready for the new F1 in 2023 and will host the first ever GP in the country.

What’s the circuit like?

It features one of the longest straights on the calendar at 1.5 km of length.
Turns 1 and 2 are quite usual Tilke’s design to provide overtaking opportunities, while the Turn 16-19 sequence may remind to many the sweeping iconic Esses at Suzuka.
It is really a unique track that has generated a lot of interest, and the formula of mixing permanent and street circuit will probably become more frequent in the future.

Where is it located?

Close to My Dinh National Stadium on the western side of city, around half an hour from Noi Bai International Airport. (21°00’55.1″N; 105°45’46.5″E)
