Bridgetown Street Circuit – Bridgetown

When was the track built?

In the early 2000s there was a project for a FIA Grade 2 circuit, 3.2 km long, in the port area of Bridgetown.
The project never became reality, with the proposal always being no more than a sketch; but with the new F1 organization, the city revamped the idea of bringing motorsport on its streets.
I was appointed to design the new circuit, that will be ready to host a Formula One GP, with temporary pit and paddock buildings, too.

When was its first Grand Prix?

The new circuit will be ready for the new F1 in 2023 and will host the first ever GP in the country.

What’s the circuit like?

Even if it’s a street course, it offers four long enough straights to see chances for overtaking.
Traction will be the most important factor to be quick around this track, especially in the slow chicanes and sharp corners of sector 1 and 3.
It will be interesting to see how drivers will approach the fast turn 10 and the hairpin 18, where multiple lines are possible.

Where is it located?

Few meters from the Caribbean Sea, in Carlisle Bay, close to the port in the south area of the city, around 15 km west of the International airport. (+ 13°05’51”, – 59°37’09”)
