When was the track built?
Opened in 1951 as a dirty oval, after being converted to motor racing from a horse racing venue, it has been extended little by little since the late 1950s, after driver and engineer Piero Taruffi designed the first modification.
Only recently, in 2005, it has been refurbished completely in the facilities and with the final addition of the longest straight leading to turn 7, and it has hosted also F1 testing.
It will become part of the new F1 database from 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever F1 GP on this venue.
It is one of the seven Italian circuit that will rotate in European Continental Series and World Title.
What’s the circuit like?
After turn 9 it has kept its Taruffi’s original layout, windy and slow with its many hairpins, leading to the finish line.
The first two sectors are instead very fast, with three breaking zones providing overtaking opportunities.
Engineers will have to compromise between top speed and traction in slow corners.
Where is it located?
Near Campagnano di Roma, around half an hour north of Rome and its International airport. (+ 42°09’35”, + 12°22’10”)
