EUR Formula 1 Rome Street Circuit – Roma

Circuit: Fictitious
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2021 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

The EUR area at the south of Rome has held between 1928 and 1931 few races on a street course, which at the time wasn’t developed as it is now.
Since then the closest Rome came to host a Formula 1 GP was in 1985, when a circuit proposal passed also the FISA approval and was inserted in the calendar replacing Dallas, but it was stopped due to political contrast.
Ecclestone tried many times to revamp the project and he came close in 2009; but the area has only been used recently for the Formula E GP.
Now, with the new organization, and thank to the new layout designed by me, Rome will enter the database from 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever F1 GP on this venue.
It is one of the seven Italian circuit that will rotate in European Continental Series and World Title.

What’s the circuit like?

The first two sectors are quite typical street course ones, with majority straight being between 90° corners, although the long spoon curve and the wavy straight between 7 and 10 are quite unique.
The coolest and most interesting part is the final sequence of fast changes of direction after turn 14, in a breathtaking 20m uphill adding the amazingly naturally-banked turn 19.

Where is it located? In the EUR neighborhood, in the south part of the Eternal City, well served by the Fiumicino airport. (+ 41°50’05”, + 12°28’17”)
