When was the track built?

Currently being the most important circuit in Wales, owned by the local council authority and operated by the British Automobile Racing Club, it was opened in 1989, after Llandow facility was closed, to give the country a new motorsport venue.
The ex-RAF airfield was partially converted into a 2.3km course, used for local and international events including F1 testing in the past.
Thanks to the new extension, reclaiming the whole airfield area, designed by me, it will be now suitable for Formula 1 racing, as well.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever GP in this country.
It’s one of the three Welsh circuit to rotate for a spot in the European Continental Series.

What’s the circuit like?

A good portion of the the current circuit has been saved: it’s the section between Turn 5 and 11, which is now connect to the new main straight, a former airplane runway, by two new bits.
A couple of challenging heavy-braking zones at T2 and T3 and a sequence of fast bends leading into the final corner.
Overall, it’s a short and fast circuit, with three overtaking spots and few high-speed corners very enjoyable to drive.

Where is it located?

Between Kidwelly and Llanelli, in South Wales, with Cardiff airport around 100km away to the East. (+ 51°42’22”, – 4°19’25”)
