When was the track built?
Rumors of a proposal for a street circuit in Copenhagen sent to the F1 CEO by local promoters started in 2017, with also some drawings appearing on the news.
Due to the amount of public investment required, the project was stopped the following year but the new F1 organization will make profitable for countries to host F1 events and create new circuits.
The idea is now re-launched and a definitive circuit design has been made by me, ready to be added in the circuit database from 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race on this track, and it will rotate with Iceland for the 18th spot of the European Series.
What’s the circuit like?
Amazing location, with cars racing between the beautiful Danish architecture and the channels of Stadsgraven, and extremely wide street make this track look like a permanent venue.
Sector 1 is probably the only one that has the typical features of a street course; in the other two, there are four straights (two of them more than 1km long) and fast corners with space for even three cars to get side-to-side.
Overtaking won’t be an issue; top-speed and traction crucial to win.
Where is it located?
In the centre of Copenhagen, with the starting line in front of the City Hall, passing by the most important buildings and locations of the capital of Denmark. (55°40’28.8″N, 12°34’12.6″E)
