When was the track built?
The world’s most northerly circuit so far, it was built in 1995 and it managed to host some motorbike and Nordic cars events.
While its location contributes to its fame, the remote rural location has surely been a blocker for major events and therefore to obtain funding for improvements.
Thanks to the new F1 organization, it will get a pit/paddock upgrade and will host a F1 race in the next years.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race on this track.
It will rotate with other two circuits in this country for a spot in the F1 European Series.
What’s the circuit like?
Short and with a simple layout, F1 will race here flat-out almost everywhere, making it quite hard to overtake but also extremely interesting as the smaller mistake will be punished heavily.
It is made more interesting by elevation changes of up to 31 metres.
Race will be held in the night, enjoying the natural 24 hours daylight.
A special asphalt surface had to be laid down to cope with the harsh winter climate; it will be interesting to see how F1 cars will work on it.
Where is it located? Just north of Mo i Rana, in a unique location in the north of Norway, around 1000km north of Oslo.
The town has an airport connected to Bodø and Trondheim ones. (66°25’23.1″N; 14°26’34.9″E)
