Layout: Actual
When was the track built?
Opened in 1969, at the peak of Swedish motorsport, with the design supported by Jo Bonnier, its fortunes started declining in the 1980s, when less local drivers were involved in F1 and other formula series and due to financial difficulties.
It has been then shortened into two variants, but from 2023 the original ‘69 layout will be used again to bring F1 also here, as one of the five Swedish location in the new F1 database.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race on this circuit.
It will rotate with other four circuits in this country for a spot in the F1 European Series.
What’s the circuit like?
It has all the old-style features, reminding many circuits designed in that era, with straights and fast corners.
The longest straight, opposite to the pit one, is very wide as it is used also as a drag strip and will surely be the main spot for side-to-side battles.
The last corner can also provide some drama after another long straight.
Car balance and top speed will be decisive here.
Where is it located?
West of Linköping, around 20 minutes from the city airport; Stockholm’s one, way better connected, is around an hour away. (+ 58°22’05”, + 15°17’03”).
