Autodrome Chayka – Chaiky

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2021 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

Completed in 1975, after a decade of design and quest for approval from the Soviet authorities, the circuit was a 4.5km “big loop” but, due to design and construction shortcomings, it failed to host major motorsport events.
It then felt into decline so much that in the late 90s it is used only in its smallest version, the  ‘Little Loop’.
Now, thanks to a new design made by me and the new F1 organization, it will be renewed to the most advanced standards to bring a GP for the first time in Ukraine.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever race in this country.
It will rotate with Belarus for the 24th spot in the F1 European Series calendar.

What’s the circuit like?

Clearly inspired by the original version of the ring, it has an “old-style” first and final sectors, very fast, with long straights and heavy braking zones.
The middle one is a bit more challenging, including two hairpins with 20° banking angle. Almost every corner offers overtaking opportunities.
It perfectly fits the new spirit of F1, reviving old circuits, respecting their heritage while creating interesting races.

Where is it located?

In Chaiky, in the Kyiv Oblast, to the west the capital; it is served by both city’s airports. (+ 50°26’18”, + 30°18’12”)
