When was the track built?
The exact inauguration date is not known, but the 5.1km circuit inside the park has been used for road racing for a while; a shorter version is also used for motorcycle racing.
It was identified as the perfect location for the Serbian GP: it will feature a new track, made by me, along with some modifications in the park, improving the surface and roads used by Formula 1 and replacing others with green areas, adding permanent grandstand and paddock facilities.
Space is also created for temporary stands in some spots around the forest.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race in this country.
It will rotate with Slovakia for the 25th spot in the F1 European Series calendar.
What’s the circuit like?
Bumpy and characterized by elevation changes, as the circuit unravel up and down a hill, it has kept most of the existing corners, like the two uphill snaky sections after Turn 1 and Turn 8.
Three long straights will provide plenty of wheel-to-wheel battles and overtaking
The downhill parabolic Turn 16 will surely become iconic as it embodies all the circuit’s challenges.
Walls are very close everywhere, increasing the snares for drivers, as they need to combine great precision and speed.
Top-speed obviously important in the straights, but car balance and traction will be required to be successful in this demanding course.
Where is it located?
Just outside Kraljevo, a small city in the south of Serbia, around two hours drive from Belgrade and its airport. (+ 43°42’04”, + 20°42’48”)
