When was the track built?
Opened in 2009, thanks to the support of the automotive industry in the country, it has hosted GT and Touring Car events at European level since, thanks to its 12 configuration.
The main 5.9km one, will also be added to the new Formula 1 circuit database from 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race in this country.
It will rotate with Serbia for the 25th spot in the F1 European Series calendar.
What’s the circuit like?
It is quite a fast ring-circuit, with mainly long-radius high-speed turns, challenging for drivers and tyre management.
It also has four artificially created elevations, which contribute to make it less banal than it may look like; Turn 1, 3 and 10 are the best chances for overtaking.
It will be widened and resurfaced for F1 racing.
Where is it located?
Around 45 minutes east of Bratislava and its airport, also close to the Austrian and Hungarian borders. (+ 48°03’16”, + 17°33’58”)
