Motorsport Arena Oschersleben – Oschersleben

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Opened in 1997 it was the first circuit in the former East Germany, and it became quickly an important appointment for touring cars and formulas at Continental level.
Unfortunately, financial struggles reduced the number and importance of events held here, but thanks to the new F1 organization it will get a new life support also by the first ever Gran Prix, thanks to its modern facilities.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever Formula 1 race on this racetrack.
It will rotate with other six circuits for the German spot in the F1 European Series calendar.

What’s the circuit like?

Turn 1 immediately catches the eyes: a unique 90° bend, designed recently to ease overtaking as the rest of the short track, fast and flowy, with short straights, doesn’t offer many chances.
It has been theatre of many incidents, especially at the start.
Like other circuits of this kind, finding the right rhythm, having a constant lap time and starting in front will be crucial.

Where is it located?

In the outskirts of Oschersleben, around 20 miles southwest of Magdeburg in central Germany; Leipzig and Hannover airports are around an hour and half away. (+ 52°01’41”, + 11°16’36”)
