Automotodrom Brno – Brno

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

It is another example of deep transformation and great motorsport heritage, from the 29km long road course used in the early 1930s, that has been reduced several times until 1986, when the challenge of arranging a race on open roads and the safety concerns required a new and permanent venue.
The new circuit opened in 1987 and it became immediately a yearly fixture for MotoGP and many touring and formula events.
It will now bring also the first ever titled Formula 1 race in the country.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever Formula 1 race on this racetrack.
It will rotate with Most for the Czech spot in the F1 European Series calendar.

What’s the circuit like?

What is an apparently simple layout, with short straights connected by long-radius mid-speed corners, conceals a challenging racetrack due to the elevation changes that make each turn not easy as it may look on the map.
F1 cars will likely opt for high downforce set-ups; weather could also be a factor.

Where is it located?

On the West outskirt of Brno, in the southern Moravian region, around 20 minutes from the city’s airport. (+ 49°12’18”, + 16°27’12”)
