Rustavi International Motorpark – Rustavi

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Built in 1979 during the Soviet era, it was only the third circuit in that part of the World, designed mainly for motorcycles.
It has hosted very few events until the fall of the Berlin wall and it remained almost abandoned until, in 2009, it has been purchased by Shota Abkhazava, owner of the ArtTech racing team; thanks to his investment, the layout was slightly changed to suit better also car racing and, more importantly, all facilities were completely renewed to better comfort and modern safety standards.
And it will finally bring F1 to Georgia from 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever GP in this country.
It will have a secured spot in the F1 Middle East Continental Series.

What’s the circuit like?

An interesting layout, with a particular turn 1-2, a tight bottleneck followed by a long left-hander, and various overtaking spots, despite having only 12 corners.
Set-ups will be aiming at low downforce even if there is not a very long straight.
It seems to have a nice flow for drivers, but a small mistake can make them loose rhythm throughout the whole lap.

Where is it located?

In the homonymous city, on the right bank of the River Mtkvari, around 30 minutes from the capital Tbilisi and its airport. (+ 41°34’16”, + 44°56’57”)
