When was the track built?
There are no traces of major motorsport events held in the island of Cyprus, but its ideal location, that will make racing possible all year round, put it on the radar of the new Formula 1 Organization for building a new circuit.
Designed by me, with wonderful surroundings and close to all services of the capital Larnaca, this racetrack is suitable for all most important 2-wheels and 4-wheels GP and will be included in the Circuit Database from 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever GP in this country.
It will have a secured spot in the F1 Middle East Continental Series.
What’s the circuit like?
It’s a high-average speed circuit with various overtaking spots, and characterized by interesting elevation changes throughout.
The long main straights has a hump half-way through, after the finish line, that goes from uphill to downhill, making the T2 braking zone very insidious.
The tight T5 chicane is the other hard braking corner, while in most of the other turn drivers will carry lots of speed.
The blind uphill T11 is also very interesting.
It is fun to drive with many different type of cars.
F1 will come here in November, with kinder temperatures and gentle winds.
Where is it located?
Overlooking the Larnaca Salt Lake, few kilometres south of the city centre and west of the airport. (34°53’47.0″N 33°35’58.1″E)
