When was the track built?
It was built in just over a year and inaugurated in 2004, ready for the first MotoGP race.
After nearly two decades hosting the top motorcycle series it managed to get a contract with Formula 1 as well in 2021.
Thanks to its permanent outdoor lighting system it can host night races as well.
When was its first Grand Prix?
In 2021, when Lewis Hamilton on Mercedes won, starting from pole position, in front of title rival Max Verstappen, with Fernando Alonso back on the podium after 7 years.
It will have a secured spot in the F1 Middle East Continental Series.
What’s the circuit like?
Designed mainly for motorbike races, it is a fast and flowing track, where medium and high-speed corners predominate.
Thanks to that it is entertaining for drivers, but it provides few overtaking opportunities, with turn 1 after the one-kilometer-long main straight being the best one.
Where is it located?
Around 20 miles north of Doha and 45 minutes from its International airport. (+ 25°29’16”, + 51°27’01”)
