When was the track built?
Built as part of the iLand City, a science and technology park in the newly-established commercial and entertainment township southwest of Tehran, the Race Resort, designed by Apex, has been started around 2012 and the Grade-2 circuit is already completed, although most of the facilities around are still in development.
The motorsport complex includes a country club, expo centre and road safety training school and will be linked to the wider nearby development.
Thanks to the new Formula One organization it will get the Grade-1 approval by 2023 and a boost to finish the entire project sooner.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race in this country.
It will have a secured spot in the F1 Middle East Continental Series.
What’s the circuit like?
The 4.7km track offers a natural topography range of 22m, providing a great balance between straights and corners, with enough overtaking spots and heavy-braking zones but featuring also fast sweeping corners, exciting for drivers and fans.
Very notable the high-speed sequence from turn 12 to 17, expected to be the most challenging and thrilling part of this fine layout.
Where is it located?
Around 50km south of the capital city centre, closer to the newly built Imam Khomeini International Airport. (+ 35°26’15”, + 50°54’57”)
