When was the track built?
There is very little information about this circuit; it was likely built and opened in 1991, when it also hosted a F3 race; after that there is no trace of it in major motorsport events and it’s possible it has hosted local ones.
Thanks to the space available around, a full redesign of the track and facilities around it, made by me, has been possible, to include it as final Mexican venue in the Circuit Database.
It will be ready for 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race at this venue.
It is one of the six Mexican racetracks that will rotate in the Formula One North American Series, where Mexico has three spots.
What’s the circuit like?
The newly restyled circuit is really complete: after a fast first sector, with two straights and the same amount of overtaking spots, the second one is more challenging thanks to a long sequence of six corners, each to be faced at different speed, making very difficult to find the perfect rhythm.
The final sector is probably the most interesting, starting with a long hairpin and ending with a pair of triple-apex turns and a high-speed final one; the smallest mistake here means losing a lot of time and speed on the main straight.
Where is it located?
In a nearly desert area around 20km south of the Ciudad of Juarez and its airport, in northern Mexico; El Paso and the border with the United States are just 35km to the north . (+ 31°27’58”, -106°28’33”)
