Daytona International Speedway – Daytona Beach

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Inaugurated in 1959, nearly three decades after the Mr. French decided to make the already famous location both for motorsport, as venue for land speed records trials, and for tourism, the home of stock racing.
The tri-oval included also a series of road courses; it has been the home of NASCAR since its opening but more recently it has hosted various International events on two and four wheels.
Only F1 is missing, but thanks to the new organization and a dedicated layout, Daytona will be finally added to the Circuit Database from 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever race in this venue.
It is one of the eight circuits in the Eastern area of the United States, which will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series.

What’s the circuit like?

The F1 layout will be a reduced version of the road course and will use more of the internal roads and only one of the banked corners.
It is extremely fast, and it will be interesting to see Formula One cars playing the tow game in the oval section and then having to cope with a very-low downforce set-up in the infield one.
Engine power and tyre management will surely be critical factors.

Where is it located?

At Daytona Beach, in central Florida; the city has an airport connected to the main cities in the East coast. Orlando airport is just above one hour away. (+ 29°11’12”, – 81°04’08”)
