Miami International Autodrome – Miami

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Miami has been in the conversation for hosting a Formula One Grand Prix several times, more frequently in the last decade, with a proposal for a circuit around the American Airlines Arena rejected few years ago.
But the new proposal from Apex Circuits for a semi-permanent circuit in the parking area of the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, has been approved; the first race will be on May 8th 2022.
It will be kept in the Circuit Database.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever race in this venue.
It is one of the eight circuits in the Eastern area of the United States, which will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series.

What’s the circuit like?

Despite its projected high average and top speeds, it has street circuit vibes.
It’s a dynamic and free flowing track with mainly sweeping corners and a small section, between Turn 11 and 16, that offers slower and twistier turns; in this part there are also the only small elevation changes as the track heads over an exit ramp and under various flyovers across uneven ground.

Where is it located?

At Miami-Gardens, in the complex around the Hard Rock Stadium, around half an hour away from the airport. (+ 25°57’29”; – 80°14’14”)
