NOLA Motorsports Park – Avondale

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Built in 2011 as a private circuit for wealthy motorsport addicted, on both two and four wheels, it has gained so much attention in the United States that various American series started to insert it in their calendar, including IndyCar, from 2014, after a series of track upgrades were approved to allow the higher-powered single seaters to race safely.
Thanks to the new Formula One Organization it will become also one of the twenty-four racetracks in the States from 2023, pending an upgrade of the pit and paddock facilities.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever race in this venue.
It is one of the eight circuits in the Central area of the United States, which will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series.

What’s the circuit like?

It has two long fast sections, the main straight and the back one, connected by a couple of twistier sequences of turns.
Despite its simple layout it provides overtaking spots, high-speed corners and others where traction is more important.
Temporary stands will be added for the F1 event.

Where is it located?

In Avondale, part of the New Orleans metropolitan area, south of the west bank of the Mississippi River, with the International airport around 30km north. (+ 29°53’05”, – 90°11’48”)
