When was the track built?
Opened in 2015, it’s a private motorsport resorts with three different circuits, designed by Alan Wilson, that can be combined in various way to form up to 20 variants, including the long 7.2km one that will be used by Formula 1, that has included this circuit in the Database as part of the new Organization.
Temporary pits and paddock facilities will be built for the GP.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race in this venue.
It is one of the eight circuits in the West coast of the United States, which will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series.
What’s the circuit like?
The version used by Formula 1 is the combination of the “South Palm”, “the North Palm” and the “Desert” layouts, with the first part featuring three long straights and as much braking zones.
The central section has a sweeping carousel corner along with elevation changes, while the final one incorporates cambered corners and a mix of low and high-speed curves similar to famous street circuits.
The result is a fast track that is technically demanding.
Where is it located?
At Thermal, a small city around 2 hours east of Los Angeles, in the state of California, close to the beautiful resort of Palm Springs; the local airport, just outside the track, is connected to the Los Angeles one. (+ 33°36’09”, -116°09’06”)
