When was the track built?
Opened in 2003, it has been since then one of the most appreciated private road racing and testing facilities in the country, thanks to its various configuration and location.
With minor layout modification, designed by me, and the construction of F1 standard pit facilities, it will be added to the Circuit Database from 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race in this venue.
It is one of the eight circuits in the West coast of the United States, which will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series.
What’s the circuit like?
The version used by Formula 1 will be the “Race 1” variant, with some amendments especially to the first and final corners, and the “snake” section.
Drivers will be at full-throttle for most of the time, with cars that will have almost-flat wings to reduce drag and optimize top-speed.
Even if it’s a simple layout it offers something different from most of the modern venues.
Some run-off areas will be improved, and temporary stands will be built for the Grand Prix.
Where is it located?
At Buttonwillow, in central California, 35km West of Bakersfield and 200km north of Los Angeles. (+ 35°29’25”, -119°32’43”)
