False Creek Street Circuit – Vancouver

Circuit: Fictitious

When was the track built?

The “Pacific Place” has hosted CART/Champ Car and Indy Lights races from 1990 to 2004, on three different 3.8km circuits on the right bank of the False Creek inlet.
The area became then the Olympic Village and after that no race has been held, but with the better financial prospects of the new F1 Organization, a new longer and more spectacular street course, designed by me, will be used by Formula 1 to also visit the Canadian West coast rom 2023.
Temporary box and paddock facilities will be built in the Plaza of Nations.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever race on this circuit.
It is one of the eight Canadian circuits which will rotate for four spots in the Continental Series.

What’s the circuit like?

Street courses in North America are always spectacular as they exploit the typical large roads, and this one is not different.
Overtaking will not be an issue, especially in the extremely fast first part, up to Turn 8, characterized by the 1km long bridge section and the tricky downhill braking zone before Turn 6.
The second part is closer to most of street track, with 90° bends, although the length of some straights will still allow side-to-side battles.
It will be interesting to see the set-up choice, as cars must reach high top-speed, while having good traction and maneuverability between the rails.

Where is it located?

In the heart of Vancouver, crossing the beautiful False Creek which separates Downtown and West End neighbourhoods, using the Cambie Bridge, passing by the BC place, the Rogers Arena, Science World and the former Olympic Village.
The airport is around 15km to the south. (+ 49°16’36”, -123°06’44”)
