Ruapuna Park – Templeton

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2022 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

Inaugurated in 1963 as a short 1.6km club course, it has remained as such until 1993, where through a massive site development it because a FIA-Grade 3 multi-layout circuit, with a drag strip and a dirt oval.
It has failed, though, to attract any International event but thanks to the support of the new Formula 1 Organization, a new circuit redesign, made by me, that will guarantee the FIA Grade-1 status, paired with state-of-the-art facilities, will bring the top motorsport Series here from 2023.
The drag strip will be also kept.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first race ever on this circuit.
It is one of the four New Zealander circuits that will be featured in the Oceania Continental Series calendar.

What’s the circuit like?

It’s designed to be different from the majority of the modern layouts and of the circuits in the area.
It is quite twisty and snaking, with 7 slow corners, where good traction and high downforce are required.
The best overtaking spot is at Turn 1, at the end of the only long flat-out section exiting Turn 18.

Where is it located?

In Templeton, near Christchurch in the north-east part of New Zealand’s South Island; the city International airport is around 15km north. (- 43°31’50”, +172°28’51”)
