Autódromo San Juan Villicum – Albardón

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Opened in 2019, with FIM Grade A, thanks to the design of Argentinian architect Leonardo Stella, it has hosted only few local events and the World Superbike, also due to the Covid pandemic.
It is one of the most modern structures in the country and it will be part of the selection of circuits included in the Database for Argentina from 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever Formula 1 GP in this venue.
It is one of the eight Argentinian circuits in the database that will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series and one in the World Title.

What’s the circuit like?

An interesting and modern layout, with four almost parallel straights of various lengths, connected by snaking sections: the first one after Turn 1 made of sweeping corners, faster, the second one, after Turn 8, more twisty and slower.
Despite not being a long racetrack, it is complete and technical.
Formula One cars will likely choose medium downforce set-ups, trying to have more traction and balance in corners.

Where is it located?

At Albardón, in Western Argentina close to the border with Chile, around 20 km to the north of the city of San Juan, where the closer airport is available; Cordoba is around 600km to the East. (-31.397207, -68.560507)
