Autódromo Juvenal Jeraldo – La Serena

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2022 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

Opened in the 1980s, it has served as recreational and professional circuit, particularly for Touring cars and the national Formula 3 series.
It has been chosen by the new Formula One Organization as second venue for Chile, after the new extended design, made by me, including new stands, paddock and entertainment facilities, has been approved.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever Formula 1 GP in this venue.
It is one of the three Chilean circuits in the database that will rotate for a spot in the Continental Series.

What’s the circuit like?

The extended course is similar to the Hungaroring, twisty, start-and-stop, with few overtaking spots, only for the bravest, T1 after the main straight being the best one.
The range and mix of corners is extremely wide, which makes it one of the most technical circuits in the South American region; car balance and traction will be key factors, that’s why cars will opt for high-downforce set-up.
The most important feature are elevation changes: it has a 50m uphill gain from the start to T10, which is then evened off by the downhill section after that.

Where is it located?

In La Serena, in Chile’s Coquimbo region. The local airport is connected to the capital Santiago, which is around 450km South. (- 29°58’58”, – 71°13’16”)
