Autódromo Víctor Rubén Dumot – San Lorenzo

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2022 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

There are very few information about this circuit, other than it’s the most important permanent course in the country, active for decades at local level, but its length and safety standards would have not been suitable for Formula 1.
After the launch of the new Organization, it will be extended and refurbished, with a new layout designed by me, with top-level facilities and a particular figure-8 shape, ready for 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever Formula 1 GP in this country.
It will host the sixth appointment of the South American Continental Series.

What’s the circuit like?

The new design combines parts and concept of the original one, like the long banked right-hander T3 and the sequences of U-shaped corners T6-T9 and T14-T16, and new features like the new main straight and the extension in the former dirt track area, which is connected to the old track through a new underpass, which also gives the circuit a particular figure-8 look.
Overtaking is possible but challenging; set-ups will tend to the medium-high downforce.
Humidity and possible heavy rain showers could represent a further element of complexity for drivers.

Where is it located?

In San Lorenzo, in the Central department, on the East outskirts of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, which has also the biggest and most important International airport.  (- 25°20’25”, – 57°28’41”)
