When was the track built?
Despite having no existing active circuit, Honduras obtained one spot in the new Formula One Continental Series thanks to the new project, designed by me, supported by local backers and the new Formula One Organization, of a multilayout 4.25km racetrack in the southern part of the country, on the Pacific coast, to avoid any impact on the many protected natural reserves located in the North.
It is expected to debut in the 2023 season.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever Formula 1 GP in this country.
Honduras has the twelfth spot in the calendar of the South American Continental Series.
What’s the circuit like?
It’s a modern layout, with a couple of straights long enough to provide wheel-to-wheel battles, some high-speed sweeping corners to enhance driving abilities, and a final sector with slower traction turns, forcing engineers to a trade-off when it comes to car set-ups.
Temperatures almost guaranteed above 30°C, likely heavy showers and high humidity levels will make this race an intense fights also on the physical side.
Where is it located?
In Choluteca, in Southern Honduras between El Salvador and Nicaragua, capital city of the Honduran department of the same name. Tegucigalpa and its International airport are 140km to the north. (+ 13.289943, -87.162865)
