Autódromo de Brasília – Brasília

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

The Autódromo de Brasília was opened in 1974 after the country’s president Medici decided to ride the popularity of World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi to give the new capital more importance to rival Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
After a non-titled opening GP, it suffered mixed fortunes for decades, failing to take the Brazilian GP to Interlagos, even after several proposals of upgrades and redesign in 2007 and 2014.
Thankfully in 2020 a private initiative supported by the Federal District took care of restoring the track surface and upgrading all facilities, creating an opening also for the new Formula One Organization to include it in the Circuit Database from 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first Formula 1 GP in this venue.
It is one of the seven Brazilian circuits that will rotate to host the final three rounds of the South American Series and the first round of the World Championship.

What’s the circuit like?

It is a fast track with mainly long straights and sweeping corners, where drivers will be full-throttle for most of the lap time.
Overtaking opportunities are not scarce.
Weather could be a player in determining the classification, as it is often unpredictable bringing heavy showers.

Where is it located?

In the heart of Brasília, in central Brazil, around 20km from its International airport. (- 15°46’33”, – 47°53’58”)

  1. Great design! I’m very pleased to seeing those beautiful circuits in Assetto Corsa! Can you make a Circuit layout in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil? Thanks in advance!
