Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna – Goiânia

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Actual

When was the track built?

Also Opened in 1974, thanks to the push given by successful Brazilian drivers in Formula 1, it has hosted mainly national and continental racing, although the Motorcycle World Championship held an appointment here from 1987 to 1989.
After that it has been left nearly abandoned for decades, even if it was named after Ayrton Senna in late 1990s, until in 2013 a project to improve stands, rebuild the pit and paddock facilities to FIA standards and upgrade the circuit surface and safety escapes gave it new life, giving it the chance to be in the rotation for a Grand Prix from 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first Formula 1 GP in this venue.
It is one of the seven Brazilian circuits that will rotate to host the final three rounds of the South American Series and the first round of the World Championship.

What’s the circuit like?

It’s a short track, with a long main straight and a simple, fast layout.
Starting in front and having a consistent race pace will be very important as overtaking could be not as easy as it may seem.
Cars will opt for low downforce set-ups, which, combined with high temperatures, should make tyre management challenging.

Where is it located?

On the eastern outskirts of Goiânia in the Goiâs region of central Brazil, around 20km from its airport and 200km southwest of Brasilia. (- 16°43’05”, – 49°11’32”)
