When was the track built?

Inaugurated in 1961 it has become immediately the most important South African circuit.
It has hosted F1 events from 1967 to 1985 when the political turmoil in the country created a boycott from the FIA.
Only two races have been held since, in the 90s, but in 2016 the track has been upgraded and it is ready again to host the main motorsport series.

When was its first Grand Prix?

In 1967, also first ever South African F1 GP, won by Pedro Rodriguez on Cooper-Maserati, who has exploited issues to the Brabhams; it will be the last F1 victory for the team.

What’s the circuit like?

Famous for being challenging for engines, due to its height (almost 1500 m above sea level), through its long history it has kept his fast and flowing nature.
2016 Alterations included a complete resurfacing, changes to the circuit layout, upgrade of circuit safety, improvement of all spectator areas and a major refurbishment of the pit building which now includes world class facilities.

Where is it located?

Between Johannesburg and Pretoria, it takes the name from the local neighbour; in Zulu it means “My Home” (- 25°59’52”, + 28°04’04”)
