KazanRing (Казаньринг) – Kazan (Казань)

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2021 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

After initial use for test drives and track day use, the original layout was completed at the end of 2010.
Designed by Tilke it was a 3.5km, 11 turn track with no stands and it has hosted only local series.
With the expansion of F1, the circuit entered the database and it will be refurbished with new stands and extended with a modified layout made by me, ready for 2023.

When was its first Grand Prix?

Russia has 2 places in the Continental and 1 in the World series; this is one of the eight circuits that will rotate for those spots.
It will be the first ever GP on this venue.

What’s the circuit like?

The new layout is more technical and less straight compared to the original one; it is also clockwise, instead of counterclockwise.
It features a double chicane that will provide instant drama after the start, a prolonged parabolic curve 5, a long back straight surrounded by 2 hairpins and a final section with long and fast curves.
It has kept its most important characteristic, the elevation changes which are particularly interesting in the downhill leading to turn 6 and in the amazing uphill succession from turn 8 to 12.

Where is it located?

At Kazan, capital of Tatarstan and fifth largest city of Russia, served by its International airport. (+ 55°52’03”, + 49°15’35”)
