When was the track built?

With one of the highest and fastest growing economies on the planet, Cambodia secured the investment to have a spot in the new Formula One organization, with Phnom Penh being the best and most realistic option, due to the country territory.
The new Diamond Island, a massive 75 hectares land reclamation project where the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers meet, and the wide streets of Chamkar Mon and Daun Penh quartiers have been chosen for the circuit, designed by me, that will go through skyscrapers, pagodas, parks and residential areas with typical architectural traits of this part of the World.

When was its first Grand Prix?

The new circuit will be ready for the new F1 in 2023 and will host the first ever GP in the country.

What’s the circuit like?

A 6.3 km long street circuit, with 25 corners, several road width changes, insidious braking zones and fast bits is, by definition, the ultimate challenge.
It will offer various overtaking points, thanks to the many straights and the broad streets, especially in the final part after Turn 15.
Sector one has more typical 90° degrees curves, although it ends with a tricky double corner at T4-5.
The second bit is the most difficult with three hairpins, tight corners and a half-roundabout that will punish even the smallest mistake.
The final sector, which will see cars crossing the channel twice onto two different bridges, is faster, more spectacular and will guarantee wheel-to-wheel action to the finish line.

Where is it located?

In the East part of the city centre, overlooking the Mekong river and Diamond Island, 10km from the capital Airport. (11.556581, 104.928217)
