Dover Raceway – Dumbarton

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2021 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

Dover Raceway is one of the most historic permanent circuits in the Caribbean, hosting races since the late 1970s.
It has kept its original 2.5km kart-like layout, with lots of elevations changes very close to cliffs and rocks and trees.
Its location and history were perfect for a Formula One circuit, designed by me, which will run through the forest around the original circuit, whose lot has been transformed in an amphitheater, offering fans great viewpoint, with cars driving around the slowest section which retrace bits of the historical track.
Permanent pit and paddock facilities will be ready for the 2023 season.

When was its first Grand Prix?

The new circuit will be ready for the new F1 in 2023 and will host the first ever GP in the country.

What’s the circuit like?

Even if a portion of the track goes through the area where the original one was, it is completely different in order to achieve the Grade-1 certification.
It still exploits the hilly landscape to provide a continuous of uphill and downhill segments, which makes every corner challenging and entertaining to drive, but it also offers at least two overtaking spots at the end of the long straights that unravel through the jungle.
The slowest sector between Turn 3 and 11 revolves around the central hill which is the main viewpoint and entertainment area for fans, at the heart of the former circuit location.
In the final “Esses” sequence, all uphill, leading to the main straight it’s particularly tough to keep the perfect line to deliver the best lap time and not to lose speed.

Where is it located?

In the North part of the island, close to Dumbarton, between Dry Harbor and Runaway Bay, around 90 km north-west of Kingston. (+ 18°25’21”, – 77°22’40”)
