When was the track built?
Inaugurated in 2006, it was originally supposed to be a playground for businessman and sports car collector Larry H. Miller, but it quickly became a major American motorsport venue, thanks also to the design of Alan Wilson.
After his family sold the venue in 2015, it struggled to have the financial backups to host international events but now, thanks to the new Organization, Formula 1 will visit Utah for the first time ever from 2023.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race in this venue.
It is one of the eight circuits in the West coast of the United States, which will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series.
What’s the circuit like?
The Full Course that Formula 1 will use is a great mix of fast corners and straights and heavy braking zones, providing a good amount of overtaking spots and offering great views to fans from every location, as the circuit is completely flat.
Despite the lack of elevation changes it is anyway very entertaining and challenging to drive.
The main straight is 1km long, so engine power will be indeed a factor, also considering that it is at 1,400m above sea level.
Where is it located?
At Tooele, a small town around 50km west of Salt Lake City and its airport, in the state of Utah. (+ 40°34’37”, -112°22’51”)
